Founded in 794 A.D., Bongeunsa Temple offers a peaceful retreat amid Seoul’s urban energy. Nestled on a forested hillside, this spiritual haven balances ancient architecture with views of Gangnam’s sleek skyline – offering a uniquely tranquil start to your day.
What to Expect
Embark on a 30-minute journey through tradition, nature, and reflection:
- Discover the History – Learn about Bongeunsa’s centuries-old legacy with a knowledgeable local guide.
- Walk the Meditation Trail – A 1.2 km scenic path winding through temple grounds and forest.
- Build a Stone Pagoda – Participate in a hands-on cultural activity and learn its symbolic meaning.
- Admire the Grand Buddha – Marvel at one of the largest outdoor Buddha statues in Korea.
Important Notes
The path includes stone steps and some steep sections. Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended.
